Ethel C. Gass, 96 of Niantic, IL passed away Thursday January 5, 2012 in her daughter’s residence in Topeka, KS.

Graveside service will be at 1:00p.m., Tuesday January 10, 2012 at Long Point Cemetery, Niantic.  The family will gather at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home at 12:00 Noon Tuesday prior to services.  Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ Church, 5655 Union School Rd., Decatur, IL62522.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wkoff.com

Ethel was born March 9, 1915 in Decatur the daughter of William Henry “Pete” and Grace (Keith) Witts.  She married Norman Gass on August 23, 1936.  He preceded her in death on July 16, 2002.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Community of Christ Church and was an avid gardener.

Surviving are her daughters: Kay High of Topeka, KS and Christine Maurer of Dallas, GA; grandchildren: Brian High and his wife Karen of Topeka, Gretchen Holy and her husband Quentin of Leawood, KS, Andrew Maurer of Douglasville, GA and Zachary Maurer of Dallas, GA; great-grandchildren: Connor High, Mallory High, and Elison Holy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, four brothers and eight sisters.
